‘Byomkesh Gowtro’ strikes the right chord when it comes to portraying deep lying truth of the sins of mankind. Be it the elements of jealousy, greed or lust – they navigate all the characters with ease and makes the film engaging for the most part. While Arjun Chakraborty’s portrayal of Satyakam has received accolades, Abir Chatterjee as Satyanweshi Byomkesh Bakshi stands tall among others.
Abir remains the only actor to play the characters of Bengal’s two iconic sleuths, our very own Feluda and Satyanweshi Byomkesh Bakshi. The dashing actor is really on a roll this year. All of his five films – ‘Ami Joy Chatterjee’, ‘Guptadhaner Sandhane’, ‘Bidaay Byomkesh’, ‘Flat No. 609’ and ‘Byomkesh Gowtro’, released till now have been Box Office hits.
Juggling between so many characters is not an easy task but the versatile actor does it with elan. So, what’s his success mantra? While elaborating on his latest release Abir shared what’s his basic mantra for portraying so many differently layered characters: “Byomkesh Gowtro is my sixth film where I am Byomkesh. It feels like I am now like Byomkesh and Byomkesh has become like me. It is not like I only follow the script. My basic mantra remains follow the story and original content, then I discuss with the director and the writer how I can portray the character. If you are adapting a novel, there will be some added elements in the script and those that will be subtracted. It’s the director, the script writer and I come together to take the final call.”
Abir had one more film released this Puja, Anindya Chatterjee’s ‘Manojder Adbhut Bari’ in which he plays a cameo. This one has also received an overwhelming response from the audience.
