Making 100 films in 20 years is no mean feat.
And that’s exactly what Shree Venkatesh Films achieved on Thursday , when it announced its 100th film -Kamaleswar Mukherjee’s Amazon Obhijaan -with a gala mahurat. The film, which is the sequel to Chander Pahar, stars Dev in the lead.
Since its very first film in 1996 -the Prosenjit Chatterjee-starrer Bhai Amar Bhai -the production house has come a long way , deliv ering everything, from blockbusters to critically acclaimed flicks like Saathi, Chokher Bali, Raincoat, Autograph, Baishe Srabon, Chander Pahar, Chotoder Chobi, Har Har Byomkesh and Cinemawala, to name a few. It has since forayed into distribution all over West Bengal and parts of eastern India, introduced Qube Digital Cinema technology, launched several new heroes, heroines, directors and music directors and even started its own music channel. A part from winning A numerous awards and appreciation both nationally and internationally, we have earned the love and apprecia tion of the audience for enter taining them since 1996. That has helped us to be what we are today ,“ said Mahendra Soni from the production house. “We have also seamlessly delivered some of the highest TRP grossing TV shows like Behula, Bhutu, Maa Durga and Bojhena Shey Bojhena, among others.“
According to Shrikant Mohta from the produc tion house, their prime focus is the audience. “In an effort to provide quality entertainment to our smalltown audiences, we have come up with a multiplex chain in Purulia and plan to do it in Krishnanagar and Narendrapur too. Watching a film should be more of relaxation, so our job doesn’t end with filmmaking only . SVF celebrates this incredible journey with a hope to mesmerise audiences across countries and platforms in the coming years,“ he said.
As for those associated with the house, it’s a source of pride. “I’m happy that with my film, the production house is celebrating its 100th presentation. Amazon Obhijaan is the most expensive Bengali film conceived till date. We’ll see Dev returning as the adventurer, Shankar, who will explore South America -including the vast jungle of Amazon -in search of the mysterious land of gold, El Dorado. Laden with natural difficulties, wild animals, anacondas, black caimans, jaguars, savage tribes and vicious gold diggers, Shankar will travel thousands of miles and fight every danger to reach the mythical city,“ Kamaleswar Mukherjee told us.
Others associated with the house, too, congratulated it for the feat.“Very few Producers in the world who must have made century .in INDIA u r d only ONE.
