Guddu and Guriya are orphans living in Hill Care Anath Ashram, where Romila Chhetri is the Head Mistress. Of the several teachers in the orphanage, Nirmala is the only one who cares for them, much to the dislike of Romila, who always tortures them along with other children. She does not let them eat proper food or wear decent clothes. They are the most ignored children in the orphanage.
Guddu, the male protagonist, is very naughty. Guriya, his female counterpart, is timid and very low. However, inspite of their different characteristics, they are best friends. They stand up for each other, defend each other and even make sacrifices for each other. One day they discover a little puppy within the ashram area. They rescue her and begin to take care of her. Nirmala helps Guddu-Guriya hide the puppy and keeps her in her own room.
Aside from all this, Romila announces that Guriya must participate in a singing competition and come first. This makes Guriya nervous as she cannot perform without Guddu who is locked up by Romila in her office. Guddu escapes from the ashram and reaches the competition venue to perform with Guriya. They sing together and come first. But, through their song, they convey Romila’s ill teatment of them. This angers Romila and she snatches their medals from them.
Then on, she eagerly looks for an opportunity to separate them. In the mean time a family visits the ashram intending to adopt a child. Romila seizes this golden opportunity and convinces them to adopt Guriya. She also suspends Nirmala from the ashram.
