A young newly married couple goes to Sundarban on a vacation. The wife is a photographer and is more daring than the husband. She wishes to catch a glimpse of a tiger and hence decides to enter the forbidden part of the jungle. The local people try to stop her from such adventure but she is adamant. She comes across a puja of the tiger god Dakshin Rai. The local people ask her to take the blessing of the God but she refuses, as she has never heard of such a deity.
The old strange purohit curses her… you have to pay the price of ignoring Dakshin Rai. You want to see a tiger?! You will have to live with a tiger for your entire life. The wife laughs on hearing the curse. Unknowingly she enrages the tiger God.
At night, she stealthily walks out of their tent in search of a tiger. Her husband is blissfully asleep. It begins to rain and the girl gets lost in the wood. The husband is awakened by the thunderous storm. He realizes that his wife is missing. So he runs out in search of her. Next morning the wife returns to the tent, disappointed as she was not fortunate enough to meet a tiger. But the husband did not come back. The search party later on found him, unconscious in the forest. He has narrowly escaped death but had a few scratches on his body which according to the local doctor has been caused by a tiger. The wife is all shaken and returns to Kolkata immediately with her husband.
Within a few weeks the husband is cured, but the wife has by now grown paranoia. She was being haunted by a dream of the curse. She could see that strange purohit anywhere and everywhere. The husband asked her to forget the entire experience but she could not. She had started feeling that the curse would come true but she could not comprehend how that strange curse can happen for real.
It was on the next full moon night that her life took a strange turn. Her husband was returning from his night duty when suddenly he felt he was changing. As the full moon rose high up in the sky, the husband got transformed into a tiger. The wife was oblivious in the beginning, but as the bloodthirsty tiger kept on killing the city dwellers, the wife discovered the truth. Now she realized how the curse has become true.
In fear, she went to Sundarban to meet the purohit so that the curse could be done away with. But to her bewilderment the old purohit is now dead and gone. His grand son says that the purohit had told him before dying that she will come in search of him some day. And if she comes, the grand son will have to give her an ancient scripture on the tiger God. There are 108 riddles in the scripture. If the wife could solve all the riddles, the curse will be lifted automatically. But if she comes up with one wrong answer, her husband will eat her alive and become a tiger forever. The wife has no option other than to start solving the riddles
