Amloki is the story of a little girl, who is deaf and mute by birth. She loves her mother, Chandana, immensely, who works hard to prepare Gur and works as a part time actress in a local jatra company. Amloki’s mother has to take the responsibility of the family as her husband, Ratan, does nothing for a living and yet spends extravagantly on gambling. Chandana wants to save money for Amloki’s treatment but Ratan squanders her hard earned money. In order to increase her income Chandana works day and night, and as a result, she dies of illness, leaving Amloki alone. Much before her death, Chandana had planted a tree in the compound of their house when Amloki was young. Chandana used to tell Amloki that if she should ever be absent, this tree would be her mother and Amloki should take shelter under its branches. When her mother passes away, Amloki recalls her words and gradually considers the tree to be her mother. However, the tree is soon cut down and its wood is sold to a musical instrument maker.
Amloki sets out in search of her ‘mother’ and reaches the musical instrument maker. The wood, converted into a sitar is sold to a renowned musician. Following the sitar, Amloki lands up in the house of the musician, where she finds her father, Ratan, marrying the musician’s sister. Amloki, deaf and mute by birth, is unable to disclose that Ratan is her father.
Thus begins Amloki’s journey in search for motherly love, while keeping herself safe from her ill-tempered father.
Will Amloki be able to leave her mark inspite of her disabilities?
