Srijit Mukherji is back with his next, and the audience admittedly, can’t keep it together. The teaser of his ambitious next, Uma, is out and everyone is raving about it. The teaser gives a glimpse of the characters in the movie and encapsulates the emotions of everyone associated with the task of putting together an early Durga Puja, merely through their facial expressions. Uma is inspired by the remarkable story about a boy named Evan Leversage and the people of St. George in Ontario, Canada, who came together to celebrate an early Christmas for the boy because doctors feared he might not make it until December.

The film, Srijit has earlier mentioned, is dedicated to Evan and the people of St. George. Speaking of the reaction the teaser is garnering, Srijit said, “I am overwhelmed with the love and response to the teaser. And not only from India, also from people in Canada, Evan’s homeland. With the kind of inhumanity reigning all around, hopefully the film will come as a message of love and altruism… and the spirit of humanity will prevail.“

Uma is also embarking on a prestigious journey. The film is an official selection at many film festivals around the world. While Tollywood applauded the teaser, fans and well wishers poured in good wishes in plenty too…
