Uma and Ek Je Chhilo Raja to be screened at a London festival
There is no stopping Srijit Mukherji. After Stuttgart Indian Film Festival in mid-July, his Ek Je Chhilo Raja and Uma will be travelling to London, where the films will be screened in BFI Rainbow Film Festival. While this is Uma’s 10th selection in a film festival, for Ek je Chhilo Raja it is the 6th entry.
In fact, this is the second time both the films have been selected together. Earlier this year, Uma and Ek Je Chhilo Raja got a selected in Dhaka International Film Festival where the latter received the Audience Award for the Best Film.
The director is on the cloud nine. “It is rare that two films of the same filmmaker secure an official selection in the same festival. And it has happened twice. Hence, I am doubly happy, Srijit told us.
Meanwhile, his film, Ek Je Chhilo Raja, will be screened at Stuttgart Indian Film Festival on July 20. That apart the film has qualified for three awards — German Star of India in the Feature Film category, the Director’s Vision Award and the Audience award — at the festival. Srijit will be travelling to Germany next week.
Many of Srijit’s films have left a mark in international festival circuit. Recently, his last venture Vinci Da too has been screened at the London Indian Film Festival on June 21 and 25. “This is one of the most prestigious festivals. Of course, it is exciting news for us,” he told us earlier.
