Abir Chatterjee to play double role in Debaloy Bhattacharya’s Biday Byomkesh

The film also features Sohini Sarkar, Joy Sengupta and Bidipta Chakraborty in important roles.

Actor Abir Chatterjee will be seen in a double role in Debaloy Bhattacharya’s upcoming film Biday Byomkesh.

Known for playing the detective Byomkesh Bakshi in films like Byomkesh Bakshi (2015), Abar Byomkesh (2004), Byomkesh Phire Elo (2014), Har Har Byomkesh (2015) and Byomkesh Parbo (2016), Chatterjee will essay the roles of both, a 70-year-old detective, and his grandson Satyaki in the film.

“Sharadindu Bandopadhyay [sic] has written many stories but most of them are now exhausted. However, our curiosity for detective Bakshi has remained unabated. Hence, I thought of deconstructing the stories of the author,” said Bhattacharya to Ebela, a Bengali tabloid.

He also added that the emotional journey of the detective will be at the centre of the film.

“The parameters of judging truth and false and the values associated to them have now changed quite a lot. Besides, the film will bring out the nuances of the relationship between the grandfather and the grandson and will also portray the character of the Satyanweshi (Byomkesh Bakshi) from the perspective of his grandson,” Bhattacharya told anandabazar.com.
