Rwitobroto: ‘Goyenda Junior’ is not only a detective thriller

While Shantilal is the new detective in town with the release of Pratim D Gupta’s ‘Shantilal O Projapoti Rohoshyo’, Bengali cinema seems to be thriving on detective and thrillers these days. Detective stories indeed have a pull in Bengal.

Now, Mainak Bhaumik is introducing another teen detective in his next ‘Goyenda Junior’. The movie sees Rwitobroto Mukherjee reuniting with Mainak as the titular character after creating a lot of buzzes last year with ‘Generation Aami’.

“The story is not just about a detective, it also explores Bikram’s (my character) crisis in life and how he overcomes all the challenges a 16-year-old goes through. He is a pretty sharp and witty, good in studies, enjoys reading crime thrillers, likes a girl in his class and uses his intelligence to solve a crime. He is a teenage boy but at the same time a loner, having lost his parents at an early age. He stays with his uncle, who is a top cop. His uncle encourages him to accompany him to work to divert his mind. And there, Bikram cracks a case which was troubling the city police. Don’t think he has a detective mind. Rather the film delves deep into a teenage guy and his problems; crime is only a part of it,” explains Rwitobroto who has recently wrapped up the shooting for ‘Goyenda Junior’.

Beside the young talented actor, Anusha Viswanathan plays the female lead in this detective thriller.
