Now, Srjit Mukherji takes his film to Stuttgart

Filmmaker Srijit Mukherji is on cloud nine. His film, Ek Je Chhilo Raja, will be screened at Stuttgart Indian Film Festival on July 20. Besides, the film has qualified in three awards — German Star of India in the Feature Film category, the Director’s Vision Award and the Audience award — at the festival. Srijit will be travelling to Germany next week.

While talking about the journey, Srijit told us, “I am hopeful. Ek Je Chhilo Raja is one of the most celebrated films that I have made. It was well appreciated by the audience in Kolkata after its release and now it is doing the rounds in the festival circuit. Earlier, it went to several other festivals, including Palm Springs International Film Festival. Now, I am looking forward to this one.”

Many of Srijit’s films have left a mark in international festival circuit. Recently, his last venture Vinci Da too has been screened at the London Indian Film Festival on June 21 and 25. “This is one of the most prestigious festivals. Of course, it is exciting news for us,” he told us earlier.

The filmmaker is currently busy with his next, Gumnaami. Prosenjit Chatterjee, who plays the lead in the film, had earlier said, “Srijit was super cool on the sets this time. It was quite a stressful shoot, as the subject was not so easy. I must say Soumik (Haldar) has done a brilliant job. People say we are a trio — Srijit, Soumik and me — who have never disappointed our audience.” The actor had also tweeted a picture of the three of them and written, “Autograph, Baishe Srabon, Mishawr Rawhoshyo, Jaatishwar, Zulfiqar, Yeti Obhijaan and now Gumnaami. Hum ‘saath saath’ hai (sic).”

Srijit’s Gumnaami revolves around on a mysterious sadhu, who lived in Faizabad and many believed him to be Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in disguise.
