Neel Dutt speaks about his experience working with Aparna Sen
Ghawre Bairey Aaj is inspired by Rabindranath Tagore‘s novel, Ghare Bairey. It is a contemporary retelling of the triangular love story involving the characters, Nikhilesh, Sandeep and Bimala. It is as much a story of passionate romance as it is of clashing ideologies and the way these clashes affect love and friendship. Neel Dutt has composed music for the film. Talking about his experience of working with Aparna Sen, Neel said, “This is my third film with Rina mashi. My first film with her was Saari Raat and after that, Sonata. So, I know exactly what she wants from me. This is my first film where the entire soundtrack is based on Indian classical music. I am happy that she had the confidence in me. People usually think that my songs are more guitar-based and peppy. But, I am thankful that Rina mashi trusted me with this film. There are two songs in the film. One is sung by Ustad Rashid Khan and Arpita, while the other one is sung by Manomoy Bhattacharya,” said Neel. He added, “Rina mashi is very clear on what she wants. She suggests, but never interferes. Generally, my arrangements are always okayed by her at the first go. Sometimes, she suggests changes for its betterment.”
Neel is also composing music for a stage play, Roghupati, which will be directed by Anjan Dutt. “I will perform live music on stage during the show. Iman Chakraborty has also sung a song, which is part of the play,” said Neel, who is at present busy scoring background music for Shaheber Cutlet.
