Jaya Ahsan’s Crisscross all set to release on
August 10

Bangladeshi actress Jaya Ahsan’s new Indian Bengali film titled ‘Crisscross’ directed by Indian filmmaker Birsa Dasgupta is all set to release in India on August 10.

Produced by Shree Venkatesh Films, ‘Crisscross’ is an adaptation of Smaranjit Chakraborty’s 2014 novel of the same name.

A teaser of the film has been released on Saturday. Then, Jaya, in a video message on Facebook, revealed, “‘Crisscross’ is a story of five fighting women. My character’s name is Miss Sen. Her life is full of complexities. She has stubbornly chosen a life of solitude.”

A song of the film has also been released on YouTube on Sunday afternoon.

According to Times of India, in this women-centric film directed by Birsa Dasgupta, Jaya will be seen as Miss Sen, an independent businesswoman who runs an ad agency quite efficiently. While speaking about her character in the film she said, “You can’t just limit the personality of Miss Sen as a man or a woman. That’s why I loved the character. It has also brought loneliness upon me to prove I am self-dependent. But there is a twist. As the film progresses, my character also feels the need for a friend.”

Interestingly, Jaya’s role was initially offered to Swastika Mukherjee but she rejected the offer as the content didn’t look convincing to her. ‘Crisscross’ also stars Mimi Chakraborty, Nusrat, Sohini Sarkar and Priyanka Sarkar in pivotal roles.

Meanwhile, Jaya Ahsan’s first home production ‘Devi’, which releases in September, has been creating quite the buzz in Kolkata and Bangladesh since its announcement. The film is based on a novel by renowned Bangladeshi writer Humayun Ahmed.

The Bangladeshi actress will also star in Kaushik Ganguly’s ‘Bijaya’, which is a sequel to the 2017 hit ‘Bishorjon’.
