Jago Uma, title song of Srijit Mukherji’s Uma crosses half a lakh views in a day
This is Mukherji’s fifth collaboration with Bagchi, one of the most popular playback singers in Bengal, much loved for his romantic voice. “It’s exciting to work with a director like Srijit, who understands music. He lets me improvise but is very particular about how much I can emote. We have worked together since his second movie Baishe Srabon and the latest one, Jago Uma, that I sang is no less melodious than the rest,” says an enthused Bagchi, whose song Jago Uma has already garnered more than half a lakh views on YouTube in less than 24 hours of its release.
So, what else is keeping the singer busy? “I am acting for the first time in two Bengali films, Bidaay Byomkesh and Sin Sister. Also, I am busy planning my upcoming Puja release album, where I will sing a duet with Bollywood playback singer Anushree,” smiles Bagchi.
The film Uma is also the launch vehicle of actors Nilanjanaa Sengupta and Jisshu Sengupta’s 12-year-old daughter, Sara Sengupta.
