Is the change of cast in Arindam Sil’s ‘Khela Jakhon’ a strategic decision?
When Anirban Sil announced last year his next will be a hardcore thriller starring Bollywood actress Sayani Gupta in the lead it doubled the excitement of all his fans. Sil too was super excited about his initial casting. But now, the upcoming thriller ‘Khela Jakhon’ has gone through a major revamp in casting. Instead of Sayani, now Mimi Chakraborty is set to play the female lead. Abir Chatterjee also has turned down the role which will be now played by Anirban Bhattacharya. Adil Hussain is also not a part anymore. Tanushree Chakraborty has been roped in as well to play a key role Arindam’s next which will be bankrolled by SVF.
Although the makers are pointing out some logistic problems for the cast change speculation is rife that budget became a concern for the makers because of the popular Bollywood faces in the film. Plus, the decision to rope in Mimi Chakraborty seems to be a strategic one since the pretty actress has likely become the number one female lead for SVF these days.
Arindam Sil had earlier told the film will start on a slow note like typical thrillers gain the pace gradually. The plot sees protagonist Urmi coming out of coma and taken care of by her husband Sagnik and her in-laws. However, Urmi can’t adjust to her new life as the current situations contradict what she believes and Urmi becomes violent. The intense thriller slowly adopts the pace of her violence.
